You’re for the Birds
If you aren't, you should be. These tiny little critters are an invaluable source for the food that you can grow for yourself. If you see them as invaders, you're off track. Sharing a little bit of the fruit from your trees is but little compensation for the good that they do for you.
Let's start with their chirping in the morning. This is one of the methods that nature uses to help the stoma underneath all tree leaves to open up and take in the morning dew, beneficial microbes and the CO2 that they need for life. How is that for a starter?
Now let's remember the fact that birds poop. These little droplets are more than just a constant form of fertilizer for your trees. It is the microbes within their digestive tract that are being returned to your soil along with other fertilizer ingredients. Did you know that these same microbes are the ones that clear the nearby streams of unwanted microbes? That's part of the plan of nature.
They are also a major source of pest removal. They will eat the larva and insects that can plague your fruit trees and bushes and other plants that you count on for food. When they build nests in your trees nearby, they will rid these pests from your land to feed to their babies in their nest.
Sing sweet songs to them, just as they do for you.
